A NOTE ABOUT MARY OLIVER
As I find myself in the homestretch of documenting this collection, I’ve been thinking of all the sources of inspiration I have drawn from and leaned on throughout the making of this work.
From the very beginning, a small collection of poetry, A Thousand Mornings, by Mary Oliver has been a thread interwoven into all of these works. I found Oliver’s work to be a real, raw, and deeply authentic documentation of her lived experience in Provincetown, Massachusetts. She was not a woman to mince words (a woman after my own heart…❤️) and found a way to do so with elegance.
In tribute, her words have become the namesake of each painting in this body of work.
I wanted to have a space to document the poems in which I found great importance and impact, time and time again, throughout the creation of these works.
